Today Was Full Of You

I'm sitting here with Mary the dog,
and she says to say hello to you.

Today,
me and my dad took the ferry to Whidbey Island,
so he could seize some property.
The ferry and the water and the sunshine were beautiful –
and it made me think of you.

We got some coffee at Woody's Market –
and that also made me think of you.

I saw a little girl
with short reddish-blond hair and a knitted hat selling papers today.
She looked just like you from behind –
and it made me think of you.

Then we saw a little old man with a hat,
sitting in a lawn chair on the beach, fishing –
and that also made me think of you.

We went to the bakery,
and made salami and gouda cheese sandwiches on fresh Italian bread –
and – oh wait! –  it made me think of you.

Yesterday I saw hockey on TV – it wasn't Buffalo,
but it made me think of you anyway.

On Wednesday I had Thai food and coffee,
and me and Regina sat on the beach with Mary the dog in Seattle.

And I wished you were there.
