The Moonlady
All these years I kept my true nature hidden –
running along like a small shadow so that
nobody could find me.
I had seen nobody who cared that I was missing,
and I felt I was lost forever.
I had turned into a beggar girl,
lost without her family.
But the Moonlady made me forget my troubles.
She has to stay lost on the moon forever,
seeking her own selfish wishes.
We had both lost the world – with no way to get it back.
For Woman is Yin, the darkness within –
and Man is Yang, bright truth lighting our minds.
I remember that day –
the innocence, the trust and restlessness;
the wonder, the fear and loneliness.
I remember how I lost myself.
And I remember how I wished to be found.
