The Marvelous Amphibious Girl
I wish I were an amphibian –
I would linger lazily at the poolside
soaking in the blue,
letting yellow splashes filter through
onto my slippery scales.
And when I was tired of this
I would raise my head
and guzzle great draughts of air
reflecting the playful rays
in a drowsy daze –
Oh, what a glorious way
to be!
To be more than one,
to be more like two – The sun and the sea!
Oh me, to be!
Why – how lucky, how nice.
I’d be one of a kind –
The one and only girl
who can peer at the world
from two sets of eyes.
